Hi Kim! Great documentary of your garden.
The first picture is of irises. They are bulbs that return every year. The flowers and plants will completely die back during winter, but will grow up from the bulb in the spring. Crazy as it seems, the best time to transplant (move some of the irises bulbs) to different locations is in July. Only do this with irises though! It’s too hot then for other plants. You can transplant some and/or divide the bulbs to make new plants! They look nice in mass or large group plantings. Be sure to mix organic compost with your soil prior to planting or transplanting anything!
Happy gardening, Kim! 😀
